Every day, our yoga teacher aspirants learn something new at Ekattva Yogshala, Rishikesh. We regularly host outdoor activities for our students, and also travel abroad to host special events. In February, we organized a special introductory program for Chinese students, and gave them chance to explore Rishikesh’s yogic legacy, engage in meditation, and yoga sessions. This time, our yoga teachers planned an outdoor excursion for yoga students visiting our yoga academy for 200 hours teacher training certification.
This blog brings details about the outing planned around our Rishikesh yoga school to break the routine of Hatha yoga teacher training.
The expedition to scenic surroundings of Ekattva Yoga School began around 7 in the morning. Our yoga teachers took students for a long nature walk around our beautiful yoga teacher training institute which is located at a slight elevation on the Kunjapuri foothills in Rishikesh on Badrinath highway.
It is notable that Kunjapuri is a Shaktipeeth, a temple dedicated to Shakti (Shiva’s consort) and mythological relevance. The temple is reachable via a beautiful 2-3 hours trek running alongside a perennial waterstream from our facilities. The weather was pleasant and the beauty of early morning surely mesmerized our yoga TT students.
On reaching the destination, our young yoga students practiced yoga asanas, pranayama and various meditation techniques while enjoying under Mother Shakti’s gaze. The motive behind the nature walk was to rejuvenate students after rigorous teacher training over the weekdays.
Overwhelmed by the beauty surrounding them, our students couldn’t resist clicking pictures of Mother Nature as well as yoga sessions.
After light yoga practice, our accompanying yoga teachers conducted an open-ended discussion on various topics related to yoga. Outdoors give a sense of expansion and freedom to students which triggers newer areas of inquiry and complements learning by students.
We at Ekattva believe that learning is not limited to yoga studio; outdoor sessions are equally necessary for learning as well as healing.
